Chere Kaye Designs

One of the things that I’ve really been working on lately is making sure that Chere Kaye Designs crochet items are part of a whole. The entire collection works together, whether you order a doll or a bag charm, a blanket or a bag. I can’t wait to show you some of the things happening behind the scenes!

Fall is bringing a lot of making around here. 🍂

There are little things happening everywhere I look.

The bag charms have been especially fun. They’re small, but they’re becoming their own little part of the Chere Kaye Designs world—and I love seeing how those tiny characters can travel along with you.

And then there are the Story Basket Friends.

So many of them have come alive over the last few weeks. Some started with a pattern and changed along the way. Some were completely improvised. Some had names before I even finished making them, and some had to wait until I got to know them a little bit. 😂

I’m also working on a few Christmas gifts behind the scenes. I can’t show you everything yet, obviously, but there’s something really special about making something by hand for a particular person. Those projects are getting tucked away for now, but I’ll share what I can as we get closer to the holidays.

And then there’s the blanket.

It’s one of those projects that takes a little while to see the whole picture. Row by row, color by color, it keeps growing. And I think that’s a pretty good description of what I’m doing with Chere Kaye Designs, too.

A little bit at a time.

A new character.
A new color combination.
A new idea.
A new technique.
A project that teaches me something I didn’t know yesterday.

I’m still figuring out exactly what this collection is going to become, but I’m having a hell of a lot of fun finding out.

There’s lots more happening behind the scenes, and I can’t wait to show you.

Today has been a busy planning day. I did finish two of these little bees by @sarabearacrochet – they are so darling. I made them red and pink, with a little set of white sparkly wings. I can’t wait to give these to little hands for Valentine’s Day!

The planning was fun too. I used some AI help to coach me through some of the thoughts I was having, and help me clarify a few things, like pricing, how to launch my store, some spreadsheets, how to do some photos, and stuff to keep things all in the same vibe. I was very nervous at the beginning of the day, and now I feel calm and excited – but not pressured. It’s a good feeling.

In other good news, I get to take a trip to see my family. I cannot WAIT! I’ll be working hard in the meantime to make lots of presents and to narrow down how much yarn I can take with me. It’s a tough problem to have!

This is the time of year when love is in the air. Well, it’s supposed to be, anyway! My hubby doesn’t really do Valentine’s Day, but man, I love it, and crochet gives me an outlet to do lots of fun things off my hook.

The first thing I want to share with you is this adorable Chubby Bunny by A Menagerie of Stitches. She has a fabulous video tutorial, as well as a written tutorial available, too. She has modifications to make just about any kind of bunny you want out of these guys, but the Love Bunny was my guy.

Mine is a little lopsided, but I think that gives him character.

I think I’ll be making him a friend in some kind of purple or lilac. Stay tuned for Love Bunny, Part 2 :).

This bunny is made with a size 3.5mm hook, some pink size 4 worsted weight yarn, and a touch of magenta size 4 worsted weight yarn. I also used size 9 safety eyes and some polyfill, a small stitch marker, and a bent-end yarn needle. You’ll be able to see him in my store as soon as it goes live!
